EU ANNOUNCES IT MUST POSTPONE ITS NEW DIGITAL ENTRY/EXIT SYSTEM

The new digital Entry/Exit System (ESS) into the Schengen Area, which will replace passport stamping, has been postponed as the EU anounces it must postpone its new digital entry/exit system. The original date of its launch, May 2023 and another most recent date for its launch November 2023, have now been decided to be taken some-time in 2024, with a more exact date to be decided in June 2023.

While the new launch of the digital entry system date is believed to be May 2024, there are chances that it may happen later in 2024, due to the summer Olympics which are to be held in France, July 26 until August 11 2024.

The main reasons for the delay in the ESS launch are due to both the Olympics in France 2024 and for further database system development for the ESS system itself.
