OBLIGATORY USE OF FACEMASKS BACK IN SPAIN FROM 10 JAN 2024

Obligatory use of facemasks back in spain from 10 Jan 2024.
The Spanish governments health department has decided to re-impose the obligatory use of facemasks in all healthcare centres throughout Spain starting from Wednesday 10th January 2024.

The Ministry of Health will enforce the mandatory use of masks in all healthcare centres in Spain because of the increase in cases of flu and COVID, among other respiratory infections, to stop the spread of infections.

The ministry’s confirmation came hours after the extraordinary Council meeting convened to analyse the situation and take immediate measures, two weeks before the expected peak of infections. This comes as students have returned to school after the Christmas holidays, and an increase in cases was anticipated.

These measures have been taken with the aim of slowing down infections or minimizing their symptoms, Health services have opened vaccination appointments for the entire population, which will take effect “next week,” earlier than expected. The date will depend on the capacity of health centres, as “not all have resources“.

National COVID immunization figures currently do not reach 60% of the Spanish population, while among those over 80, it approaches 79%.

Despite these precautionary measures, SpainResidency.com can confirm a complete residency service from the Spanish government which permits the full process of all residency applications in Spain.
