An important update for spanish investor-residency applications where the duration of the residence permit for investors has been updated.
- The initial authorization of residence for investors will have a duration of three years without prejudice to the provisions of article 66.3 for non-formalized property purchases.
- Once this period has expired, those foreign investors who are interested in residing in Spain for a longer period may request the renewal of the residence authorization for successive periods of five years, as long as the conditions that generated the right are maintained.
- If during the authorized residence period the investment is modified, in any case, compliance with any of the assumptions provided for in article 63 must be maintained. This provision will not apply in the event that the variation in value is due to to market fluctuations.
This new law entered into force on December 23, 2022.
