FAMILY REUNIFICATION:

If you are a foreign citizen, legally resident in Spain, have your family members outside of Spain and want to bring them with you, you will need to process an Authorization for Residence by Family Reunification. This is a process that requires many documents as well as the fulfillment of many requirements.

FAMILY MEMBERS OF RESEARCHERS AND EU BLUE-CARD HOLDERS:

This is a temporary residence authorization that may be granted to the family members of beneficiaries of the special researcher regime, holders of EU Blue-Card and long-term EU residents from another Member State, by virtue of the right to family reunification.

Mobility of family members of researchers, EU Blue-Card holders and long-term EU residents

This is a residence authorization that may be granted to the family members of EU Blue-Card holders, and long-term EU residents, when they have such status recognized in another Member State of the European Union, provided that the family was already formed in that State, and by virtue of the right to family reunification.

RENEWAL OF THE FAMILY REUNIFICATION AUTHORIZATION:

The validity of the Authorization for Residence by Family Reunification is linked to the permit and the duration of the card which is held by the family member in Spain. Therefore, once we are close to the expiration of said card, we must renew our permit to be able to stay in Spain legally.

The Independent Residence Authorization of reunited family members is a residence and independent work authorization from the family member and that can be obtained by holders of residence by family reunification.
