China joins the hague convention:

INFORMATION ON CHINA´S ACCESION TO THE HAGUE CONVENTION:

The website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, specifically in the Consular Department, has published information on its new apostille services.

As of November 7, China has acceded to the Hague Convention. Therefore, consular legalization is no longer required for documents issued in China that must take effect in Spain or other Hague Convention signatory countries.

For this reason, the previous requirement of double legalization, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Consulate, will be replaced by the single requirement of the apostille, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China being the competent body. This will result in a significant reduction in processing time.
