Is it possible to work in Spain as a Non-Lucrative resident?

With the ability to work online, todays working arena has expanded meaning you should be able to live in one location and work remotely in another with Non-Lucrative resident.
Based upon this the title of ´Digital Nomad´ is broadly advertised and many people plan to make the change to live in a new location, Spain being one of these.

But which residency is most suitable for this type of lifestyle?

Permanent residency is obtained after 5 years of Spanish Residency through Self-Empoyed Residency or Non-Lucrative Residency or Residency through Investment. This followed by 5 years as a permanent resident and means you can then obtain Spanish Citizenship with a Spanish Passport.
