WHAT IS THE DIGITAL NOMAD VISA?:

Here’s what you need to qualify:

  • Minimum monthly income:
    €2,160 (200% of Spain’s Minimum Income – “SMI”)
  • Income for dependents:
    • €810/month for your first dependent (spouse or partner)
    • €540/month for each additional dependent (children or relatives)

EXAMPLE:

A family of three (you, your partner, and one child) needs to show a monthly income of €3,510.

  • Job type:
    • You must work remotely for foreign companies or clients.
    • You can earn up to 20% of your income from Spanish clients, but most must come from abroad.
  • Experience or education:
    You must prove either:
    ➤ 3+ years of relevant work experience, or
    ➤ A university degree or professional qualification.
  • Health insurance:
    You must have private health coverage in Spain.

HOW LONG IS THE VISA VALID?:

  • If you apply from outside Spain:
    ➤ You get a 1-year visa, which can then be converted into a 3-year residence permit in Spain.
  • If you apply from within Spain (on a tourist visa):
    ➤ You can directly apply for a 3-year residence permit.
  • Renewals: As of 2025, renewals are granted for 2 years at a time.
  • After 5 years, you can apply for long-term residency in Spain.
