Yes, it is possible to apply for a Spanish Student-Visa with your spousechildren under 18 years of age and those who are financial dependents in the same situation.

A Student-Visa in Spain provides the ability to study for an official title and to work up to 30 hours per week in both an Employed or Self-Employed work position.

Spanish authorities have up to 30 days to process the application and respond.
Applicants are not-permitted to remain in Spain ilegally should this allocated time be longer than the visa-dates of the applicant.

Applications should be made with sufficient time to be processed and responded within the visa dates permitted of the applicant.

Yes, Student-Visa applications can be made from within Spain and carried-out while the applicant is within the authorised dates on their visa, but cannot be carried-out if the applicant is not legal in Spain.

To make a succesful Student-Visa application in Spain, it is required to meet with at least, the following requirements:

1) Find, register and obtain an official study-place in a registered college or university in Spain.

2) Demonstrate sufficient financial-means to cover the costs of the stay during the studies and for the return of the applicant to their country of origin and, where applicable, those of the applicants family members, in accordance with the following amounts:

  • For the applicant; 100% of the IPREM* on a monthly basis, unless, it can be duly proven that the accommodation for the entire duration of the stay has been paid in advance**.
  • For the support of family members; 75% of the IPREM* on a monthly basis for the first family member and 50% of IPREM* for each of the remaining persons, unless, it is duly proven that the accomodation has been paid for the entire duration of the stay in advance**.
 
*IPREM = €7.200,00 per year (€600 per month)
**Amounts paid to cover the cost for studies are not be taken into account for these purposes.
 

CAN I APPLY WITH MY FAMILY?

Yes, it is possible to apply for Spanish residency. You can apply with your spouse, children under 18 years of age that are financially dependents as well as parents in the same situation.

HOW LONG IS THE PERMIT FOR?

Investor residency has 3 periods of validity. The initial visa, if applied through the Consulate, is valid for 2 years, followed by a 5-year residency permit and then with Residency Permits with periods of 5-years validity. If the application is made from Spain whilst on a visit, the authorities will grant the 2-year residency permit directly, followed by a permit in 5-year residency periods.

It is also possible to become a permanent resident and then apply for Spanish Citizenship (10 years of residency).

WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA?

Aside from the above noted investment, the first applicant must be able to prove a monthly income of at least 4 times the I.P.R.E.M. (532€ x 4), including an additional 532€ per additional family member.

For example, a family with 3 members will have to prove a monthly income of 6 times the I.P.R.E.M., or approximately 3,200€ per month.

You are also required to have a bank account with enough funds for the duration of your permit.

Finally, you are required to have a clean criminal record in the country where you have lived in the last 4 years and private medical insurance, in Spain.

HOW LONG CAN THE PROCESS TAKE?

According to the law, the Consulate has 10 days to approve the permit from application (provided the right documents have been submitted for a Spanish Residency).

DO I HAVE TO SPEND MORE THAN 6 MONTHS IN SPAIN?

This is not required. The only permanency criteria for renewal of the visa permit to residency permit, is to have travelled to Spain at least once (during the initial visa permit).
