  • What options are available for residency in Spain after Brexit?

Now that Brexit is a reality, what options are available for British citizens to obtain residency in Spain?

  • What options are available to British citizens who want residency in Spain in 2021?

Unless you are currently in Spain and have been here since prior to 31st December 2020, you will need to apply for residency as per the options available for Non-EU citizens. If you are currently in Spain and have been since prior to 31/12/2020, then there are other options available, please contact-us.

Essentially there are three types of residency available for Non-EU citizens in Spain.
This will allow you either choose between an Investor-Residency, a Self-Employed Residency or a Non-Lucrative Residency. You can follow any of the following links to our-website or contact-us-here.

  • How can you request one of these residencies?

It will be required to request each residency from your country of residency. This means that if you are a resident of the UK, your residency must be made during a meeting your local Spanish embassy where you will attend an interview and lodge your application together with all documents and translations required.

Permanent residency is obtained after 5 years of Spanish Residency through Self-Employed Residency or Non-Lucrative Residency or Residency through Investment. This followed by 5 years as a permanent resident and means you can then obtain Spanish Citizenship with a Spanish Passport.
